CQC want to hear the experiences of children and young people

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and social care services in England. CQC makes sure that care services, such as hospitals, dentists, doctors, are good and safe and making things better. CQC is taking a special look at the way young people aged 14-25 with complex physical health needs move from children’s to adult health services.

CQC would like to ask for your help to reach the young people who:

  • receive a children’s continuing care package, or
  • receive a package of adult’s continuing care and had a children’s continuing care package, or
  • receive care from three or more health professionals as a result of long term or chronic conditions.

In the late October half term CQC will hold four focus groups around the country at fun venues where they want to meet some young people and their family to talk about their experiences of transition (including planning for transition). CQC will give £20 high street vouchers to each delegate who comes, to thank them for taking part.

If anyone is unable to come to the focus groups they can still tell CQC about their experiences through a webform, or request a telephone interview with an Expert by Experience.

Experts by Experience are people with first-hand knowledge of services or are carers of people who use services. CQC works with a lot of Experts by Experience to find out people’s experiences of using services.

Please check out full information, including how to contact cqc, in the invite letter on their website here. Please circulate this information to any young people and their families who you know meet the criteria, or ask your networks and contacts to pass it on to such young people and families.

Please ask people to contact CQC by Wednesday 23 October.
