The Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities (FPLD) has been successful in securing funding from the Big Lottery to develop employment opportunities for young people over the next four years.
'When I Grow Up' is a major new programme designed to offer young people with learning disabilities a chance to design the working future they want by bringing together families, school and employers. The project will help young people with learning disabilities aspire to, and find paid work, by supporting them over a sustained period. Working with them whilst at school, the programme will provide a radical shift in expectations, attitudes and confidence amongst all stakeholders. FPLD are working with schools in Kent, Berkshire and the London Borough of Redbridge.
