About TIN

Who we are
The Transition Information
Network (TIN) is an alliance of organisations and individuals who
come together with a common aim: to improve the experience of
disabled young people’s transition to adulthood. TIN is a source of
information and good practice standards for disabled young people,
families and professionals.
TIN is based at the Council for
Disabled Children, the umbrella body for the disabled
children's sector. The Council for Disabled Children is hosted by
the National Children's Bureau.
What we do
We provide
information and resources about transition through our website,
publications and events.
- Magazine
We
publish a magazine called My Future Choices. The magazine
is aimed at disabled young people, families and
professionals. It includes articles about transition projects,
interviews with disabled young people, the latest policy and
charity news and resources.
- E-bulletin
We
produce an e-bulletin which lists the latest policy and practice
developments effecting disabled young people in
transition.
- Seminars
We
run seminars which provide disabled young people, parents and
professionals the opportunity to explore and discuss
transition issues.
Behind the scenes
We
also work behind the scenes on policy issues, respond to government
consultations and work with leading organisations to
develop and promote good practice standards in transition.
Advice to disabled young people and
families
Please note that we do not have a
helpline and we are not resourced to provide advice to disabled
young people and their families.
We recommend Contact a Family's helpline on
0808 808 3555. Contact a Family provide advice, information and
support to parents of all disabled children.
If your child has special educational needs (SEN) we also
recommend you contact your local Parent Partnership Service. They
offer information, advice and support to parents and carers of
children and young people with SEN. Find you local Parent
Partnership Service.
