This project, launched in May 2008, is funded by vinvolved and is specifically aimed at young disabled people aged 16-25. This particular project is for people who live within Derby City or Derbyshire.

It’s all about U is a new national campaign to celebrate people who volunteer every day of the year. It is an initiative co-ordinated by Community Channel and do-it.org.uk.
Volunteering is all about you. You can learn new skills, spend time doing the things you enjoy, and also improve your job prospects.

Skill’s Volunteer Voices project has been awarded £227,797 funding by v, the youth volunteering charity, to get young people positively involved in their communities.
The project will get 250 young people aged 16-25 involved in creating opportunities and raising aspirations for young disabled people of their own age.

Shaping the experiences and opportunities for disabled people. A 'how to' CD-Rom for volunteering organisations. It includes sections on good practice and the DDA, recruitment action planning, support strategies for volunteers, staff and organisations, policies and procedures. Sections include useful resources and interesting case studies from voluntary organisations on their experiences of recruiting and supporting disabled volunteers.

'Can do volunteering' is a guide for volunteer managers on how to involve young disabled people as volunteers. This guide is produced by the UK’s two largest disability charities, Leonard Cheshire and Scope, in co-production with young disabled people and with funding from the Russell Commission.

SKILL - National Bureau for Students with Disabilities has a list of books, guides and CDroms for disabled people who are interested in volunteering and want to know more. Contains profiles of disabled volunteers discussing their own experiences, contact information and useful advice on how to get started.
