The Independent Living Funds were set up as a national resource dedicated to the financial support of disabled people to enable them to choose to live in the community rather than in residential care. The Funds make payments to people with disabilities so that they can afford to employ personal assistants (PA's), or a care agency, to provide the support that they need to remain at home. There is information about eligibility criteria on the website.
