However, in spite of unprecedented investment in youth facilities and positive activities, nearly one third of young people still do not currently engage in any form of structured activities and current provision is patchy. Open is trying to remedy this. The Open drive is encouraging local authorities to increase the number of facilities open and the range of activities available at the weekend.

Our aim is to give young people a safe place to go at the weekend, and provide them with positive things to do that allow them to explore their interests, learn new skills and socialise. We need to ensure that opportunities resonate with young people, and crucially, that they are accessible at the times they want them available.
