Relationships and Sexuality Training
KIDS have developed a new training course around Relationships and Sexuality. This day will not be about strategy, but based around a practical ethos of inclusion for staff that work with disabled children or young disabled people.
What will be covered in the training?:
• To provide an insight into the importance and benefit of carrying out Relationships and Sexuality work with young disabled people.
• A chance to explore our own values and how this can impact the work we do with young disabled people.
• To explore and discuss some of the fears or concerns that people may have around carrying out Relationships and Sexuality work with young disabled people.
• A chance to look at and test some resources that can be used to explore the issues of Relationships and Sexuality with young disabled people.
The course is aimed at managers and practitioners working with disabled children and young disabled people aged from 8 – 25 years who have an interest in working around issues of Relationships and Sexuality in an empowering way.
This work may include:
• Friendships
• Identity and self esteem
• Intimate relationships and sex
• Consent and appropriate touch
The first course will take place in Bolton on 29th March 2010, West Midlands on 22nd April 2010 and two dates for London on 28th April & 19th May 2010 at the cost of £65 per person. Venue details TBC.
