Meeting the needs of people with ASD?

The National Audit Office (NAO) is examining the extent to which existing services meet the needs of adults with ASD. Inclusion, a research organisation, has been commissioned by the NAO to examine how well the Department for Work and Pension’s benefits and employment support and benefits meet the needs of people with an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), and their carers. We were wondering if you would interested in taking part in a focus group for people who are involved in helping young people with ASD make the transition into employment and benefits services.

The focus groups will help the NAO to gather data on whether employment services and benefits are effective for people with ASD and their carers, particularly during the transition phase. These groups will include specialist private providers, key workers, social workers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists. During these group discussions, we will specifically address transition issues that individuals experience as they move into adult employment and benefits services.
We would like to hold these focus groups in mid-September. The locations are still to be decided but are likely to be held in Birmingham and London. They are likely to take approximately two hours.

If you are interested in participating please contact Rosanna Singler on 02078408344 or rosanna.singler@cesi.org.uk.
Additionally, if you know of any people who may be interested would you please pass on their contact details to Rosanna as soon as possible.
Thank you for your help with this important piece of research.
