Caring for Our Future – White Paper and Draft Care and Support
Bill published
On Wednesday 11th July 2012 the Government published
the ‘Caring
for our future: reforming care and support’ White Paper, which
sets out their vision for a reformed care and support system.
The white paper sets out the government’s intention to legislate
to give adult social care services a power to assess young people
under the age of 18, to help improve the transition to adult
services.

A
draft Care and Support Bill was also published
The draft Care and
Support Bill will create a single law for adult care and
support, replacing more than a dozen different pieces of
legislation. It provides the legal framework for putting into
action some of the main principles of the White Paper, ‘Caring for
our future: reforming care and support’, and also includes some
health measures.
